The head of HR Coordination & Shared Services considers the interdisciplinarity of the topic to be particularly important and attaches importance to bringing the various responsible positions together at one table. Bertelsmann does not see health management as isolated individual measures, but as the coordinated cooperation of all key operational and strategic departments as well as the individual health areas. Only through a joint and systematic commitment can health management be considered comprehensive and ensure that employees are healthy and motivated in the long term.
Bertelsmann Health Management
The Bertelsmann Health Management department is responsible for anchoring a healthy corporate and leadership culture. It develops the overarching strategy framework for occupational health management (BGM) and empowers and supports the decentralized leaders with appropriate instruments for its implementation. Building on this, the minimum health standards can be implemented uniformly in all companies and site-specific health management can be established. As a strategic and cross-divisional steering committee, the Bertelsmann Health Community is an important partner. The Health Management department is available nationally and internationally to answer any questions you may have about health management at Bertelsmann.
Health Management Consulting
Bertelsmann’s Health Management Consulting is the interface for health management strategy implementation. It develops suitable instruments and qualification measures as well as advising companies on the implementation of health management. In addition, in close cooperation with the relevant specialist departments and service providers, it is the coordinating body for enquiries on occupational health issues.
In-house Medical Services Department
In compliance with statutory health protection requirements, company medical services support and advise companies and carry out the necessary measures including general medical care and preventative check-ups. Services are available to all employees, representatives, as well as company management. In addition, Bertelsmann medical services are available to all Bertelsmann companies nationwide (Germany) to consult on questions relating to external company medical supervision. Recommendations are made on nationwide measures (e.g. pandemic planning) and standards are set for external service providers (e.g. check-up protocols). Head of In-house Medical Services Department.
Company Social Counseling Services
Company Social Counseling Services offers all German Group companies access to in-house social counseling (see Minimum Health Standards) and ensures uniform quality standards. It provides all employees comprehensive advice on issues related to psycho-social health, both acutely and preventively. In addition, it offers demand-oriented seminars, workshops and information events. It establishes relevant network structures and maintains them internally and externally. Bertelsmann Sports and Health
The Sports and Health Department is Bertelsmann's competence center for all questions relating to corporate sports. In the Gütersloh region, it is responsible for a demand-oriented sports program with all requirements, including certification and administration. For the decentralized units (outside the Gütersloh region), its technical expertise makes it the central point of contact and provides support in implementing sports programming. Senior Safety Engineer
Occupational Safety Bertelsmann
Bertelsmann's occupational safety department actively supports and advises companies on compliance with legal requirements. Within this framework, it ensures that mandatory safety meetings are held on time for all companies. Additionally, the department promotes workplace health-promoting measures and contributes to the development of an occupational safety culture at Bertelsmann. The department’s services are available throughout Germany to all those involved (entrepreneurs, employee representatives, representatives of people with disabilities, human resources managers, etc.) as a competent point of contact.
Group Representative for People with Disabilities
The Group Representative of Employees with Disabilities guarantees effective representation of people with disabilities at the Group level. It is responsible for related issues that affect the Group as a whole as well as several of its divisions. The council works under the motto: "The Whole Us: the strengths of every human being!" It also has advisory, support and networking tasks. It coordinates the experience exchange between the councils of employees with disabilities as well as conducting regular internal and external training courses. Additionally, the Group Council for People with Disability has an intermediary function including experience exchanges with representatives from all Group sites. It is also a member of the community of representatives of people with disabilities in German business enterprises. In cooperation with RTL, the council presents best practices of inclusion on the Bertelsmann website, Handicap TV, demonstrating contribution people with disabilities make to Bertelsmann's success.
Director | Leadership Programs
Bertelsmann University's innovative state-of-the-art learning solutions and formats are designed to promote and develop the skills of employees and managers worldwide and across all areas and levels. The topic of health plays an important role in the program as the physical and mental health of Bertelsmann employees is an important basis for performance and creativity. Programming includes online training that supports individual health-promoting behavior (e.g. stress management, work-life balance, mental fitness, etc.). In addition, the topic of health is an integral part of leadership qualification (see Group Minimum Health Standards).
